Robinhood Plans Voting Rights and One-for-One Redemption for Stock Tokens
Robinhood chief executive Vlad Tenev said the company will introduce voting rights and direct one-for-one share redemptions for holders of its Stock Token products, a step that would tie the tokenized instruments more closely to the underlying equities. The change addresses a long-standing criticism that tokenized shares offer price exposure without the ownership rights attached to conventional stock.
The announcement comes alongside continued growth in the platform's core metrics. Robinhood reported 28.6 million funded customers and $384 billion in total platform assets as of August, while crypto trading volume rose 61% month over month to $17.5 billion. Citizens raised its price target on the stock to $165 from $155 on September 11.
Shares traded between roughly $111 and $116 on Tuesday. Regulatory scrutiny of tokenized equities remains an open question for the product line, and the pace at which voting and redemption features reach users has not been detailed.
