September inflation data due Wednesday is seen as a key test of whether the Federal Reserve can pause after raising rates to 3.75% to 4.00% last month.
The 10-year Treasury yield sits near 5.25%, just off a 24-year high of almost 5.37% reached Wednesday. Retail sales follow Thursday and industrial production on Friday, while big banks begin third-quarter earnings Tuesday.
Rate-sensitive holdings such as real estate investment trusts like Realty Income and Agree Realty, as well as banks and brokerages including Bank of America and Robinhood, are likely to react to the inflation print and any shift in rate expectations.
