Bank of America Launches $250 Billion Infrastructure Finance Push

Bank of America has unveiled a Critical Infrastructure Finance Initiative targeting $250 billion in capital, which the bank says it intends to mobilize and deploy by July 4, 2027. The program is aimed at the physical backbone of the economy — energy generation and transmission, transportation networks, water systems and the data center and grid capacity now being pulled forward by artificial intelligence demand.

The structure matters as much as the headline number. The commitment covers capital the bank both deploys directly and mobilizes on behalf of clients through lending, underwriting and advisory work, positioning Bank of America as an intermediary in a category where public funding has proven insufficient relative to need.

The timing aligns with a broader repricing of infrastructure assets. Power demand tied to AI computing has turned generation and transmission capacity into contested resources, a shift visible in deals across the utility and data center landscape. For the bank, the initiative offers a durable fee stream in a segment with long project timelines and comparatively predictable financing needs.
