The third-quarter earnings season begins in earnest on Tuesday, October 13, when JPMorgan Chase and other large banks report July-September results. Bank of America is among the major lenders expected to report during the week.

Investors have been encouraged by improving market breadth and strong results hopes from large technology companies. Banks will offer an early read on loan demand, credit quality and capital markets activity amid elevated interest rates.

With the 10-year Treasury yield above 5%, attention will focus on net interest income guidance and any signs of stress in consumer or commercial credit.
