Bitcoin Slides Below $63,000; Riot Platforms Drops on Large BTC Sale

Bitcoin fell below $63,000 during an Asian-session leverage flush, trading near $62,500 Tuesday morning, down about 2% over 24 hours and roughly $57,300 below its level a year ago. Crypto market sentiment remains in Extreme Fear territory, with total market capitalization slipping 1.5% to about $2.23 trillion.

The pullback hit bitcoin miner Riot Platforms hard: shares slid nearly 8% after a large bitcoin sale by the company came to light, and the stock was down another 3.7% in early premarket trading Tuesday. Lower bitcoin prices squeeze mining margins directly, making treasury sales a closely watched signal.

There was a silver lining for Riot holders: analysts modestly raised their fair value estimate on the stock from $28.55 to $29.50 per share, citing the company's power-backed AI and high-performance computing plans as a growing second leg of the business beyond mining.
