Fed Decision Headlines a Packed Week: Coca-Cola, MGM and Chevron Report
Wall Street faces one of the busiest stretches of the summer this week, with the Federal Reserve's policy decision due Wednesday, July 29, alongside a wave of mega-cap earnings that includes Microsoft, Meta, Amazon and Apple. The FOMC meeting comes after a volatile week in which the S&P 500 finished nearly flat at 7,411.98 while the Nasdaq slipped as chip stocks weakened.
Several portfolio names are on the earnings calendar. Coca-Cola reports Tuesday, looking to extend a strong 2026 that has seen shares climb roughly 16% year to date on double-digit growth in Coke Zero Sugar volumes. MGM Resorts follows Wednesday after the close, with its conference call set for 5:00 p.m. Eastern. Chevron rounds out the week among the majors reporting.
With tariffs on 60 economies newly in effect and oil prices whipsawing on Middle East tensions, the Fed's statement and press conference are likely to set the tone for markets heading into August.
