Futures Waver as Retail Earnings and Jackson Hole Loom

US stock futures were mixed Monday morning as investors positioned ahead of a heavy slate of retail earnings. Dow Jones Industrial Average futures slipped 0.1% and S&P 500 contracts traded near flat, while Nasdaq-100 futures rose 0.4%. The S&P 500 posted its third consecutive weekly gain last week.

Traders have reduced the odds of a September rate increase to less than one-third following mixed inflation and employment data. A 25-basis-point cut is now widely expected at the Federal Reserve's September 17-18 meeting, with markets pricing roughly 70 basis points of easing by year-end.

Attention this week turns to retail results for a read on consumer spending, followed by the Federal Reserve's Jackson Hole symposium later in the month and Nvidia's earnings the week after next.
