Hecla Mining Pulls Back as Traders Weigh Silver Price Volatility

1 min read

Hecla Mining shares fell 3.88% on September 23, retreating from highs near $21 earlier in the month to trade between $18.18 and $18.39, as investors weighed silver price volatility and rising production costs. The pullback comes despite what analysts describe as a fundamentally strong quarter for the company.

Hecla posted roughly $334 million in quarterly revenue, $118 million in net income and $136 million in free cash flow, with gross margins above 60% and an EBITDA margin near 44%. The balance sheet remains clean, with zero long-term debt and working capital exceeding $600 million.

The stock's premium valuation, a price-to-earnings ratio near 37 and price-to-sales around 7.7, leaves it more exposed to swings in silver prices, and traders are described as being in a wait-and-watch mode as shares consolidate near current support levels.
