Super Micro Computer disclosed a preliminary fourth-quarter business update showing total new orders in excess of $60 billion received during the quarter, lifting its backlog to record levels ahead of its fiscal Q4 report Tuesday after the close.

The company said revenue is tracking near the low end of its $11.0 billion to $12.5 billion guidance range, but gross margins are estimated at 15% to 17% — roughly double the 8.2% to 8.4% it had guided — on a favorable customer and product mix.

Consensus calls for earnings of $0.96 per share, up more than 124% year over year, on revenue of about $11.55 billion. The report lands amid a volatile stretch for AI hardware names, and the margin surprise has sharpened investor focus on Tuesday's call.
