U.S. stock index futures pointed higher early Monday after a rough end to October. Nasdaq 100 futures were up about 0.84%, S&P 500 futures gained roughly 0.51% and Dow futures rose about 0.55%.
Last week the S&P 500 and the Dow each fell less than 1%, while the Nasdaq dropped about 2%. Falling oil prices and hopes of easing tensions in the Gulf helped lift sentiment going into the new week.
Investors now face a packed calendar that includes the U.S. midterm elections on November 3 and the October nonfarm payrolls report on November 6, alongside a heavy slate of corporate earnings.
