Wall Street Ends Volatile Week Mixed as Tech Slide Offsets Dow Recovery
Stocks closed out a turbulent week on a mixed note Friday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 235.60 points, or 0.46%, to 51,947.25, while the S&P 500 added just 0.05% to finish at 7,411.98. The Nasdaq Composite fell 0.64% to 24,975.82 as chip and technology shares extended their slide.
All three major indexes posted weekly losses, led by a roughly 2% decline for the Nasdaq, as investors weighed tech capital-spending concerns against ongoing Middle East tensions. A 3.5% jump in Apple helped lift the Dow even as the broader technology sector fell more than 2% on the day.
The week ahead brings a heavy earnings calendar, including Coca-Cola on Monday and Robinhood midweek, which should test whether the market can stabilize after two straight weeks of pressure.
