Bryan Johnson Reveals Autoimmune Diagnosis, Overhauls Blueprint

Bryan Johnson, the 48-year-old founder of the Project Blueprint anti-aging experiment, has shared a personal setback and a major reshaping of both his protocol and his company.

The diagnosis

In early July 2026, Johnson announced he has autoimmune gastritis (AIG), a rare disorder in which the immune system attacks the stomach lining. He discovered the condition in May 2026. AIG can cause nutritional deficiency, anemia, and elevated long-term cancer risk — a candid reminder that even the most measured protocol can’t control everything.

Protocol changes

Johnson has revised his supplement stack: dropping rapamycin due to side effects, adding low-dose lithium and NDGA for brain protection, and cutting NMN from daily to six days per week. While his total spend still exceeds $2 million a year, he stresses that the highest-impact interventions cost under $100 a month.

Blueprint’s next chapter

Blueprint raised $60 million from backers including Kim Kardashian, Naval Ravikant, Alex Hormozi, and the Winklevoss twins. Former Modern Health president Gyre Renwick has taken the CEO seat while Johnson shifts to focus on vision and the broader “Don’t Die” movement — turning a self-experiment into an operating system for precision health.
